Change a price
Replace an offer with a new one and new dates, so proposals keep the price they were made with.
Outcome: the new price is on a new Active offer, the old offer carries its end date, and deals that proposed the old offer still point at it.
Why not edit the price
Price* on an offer is the list price that past proposals saw. The CRM reads it through the Offer mirror as Offer (Price) beside the negotiated Deal.Value*. Editing Price* in place silently changes what older deals appear to have proposed. The field description says: create a new offer with new dates instead.
Steps
- Open Data → Offer → Catalog and find the current offer.
- Open Step 1 - Name product and seller and create a new Draft offer with the same Product*, Seller*, Price Currency* and Unit*, and the new Price*.
- Set Valid From° on the new offer to the first day of the new price.
- Set Valid Through° on the old offer to the day before.
- Type the new Name* with the new price, for example
Example Program - 2000/month. - Link the same Price List°, or a new list if the whole list changes; see Manage price lists.
- When Offer Check is blank, set the new offer to Active.
- Set the old offer to Archived once sellers should stop proposing it. Do not delete it.
Success and recovery
Success: the product’s Offers column lists both offers; the new one is Active and the old one has Valid Through° and Archived. Open deals in the CRM keep their link to the old offer; a seller relinks a deal in the CRM only if the proposal itself changes.
Archiving does not hide an offer from every picker: whether archived offers still reach the CRM mirror depends on the sync configuration; check it in the CRM’s sync settings. If you set the wrong date, correct it; the dates are plain values and nothing else depends on them automatically.
