Position

A seat in the organization that remains when its holder changes.

Source table: Positions in Core Record Types. A Position is a seat with a title that survives a change of occupant.

Rules and relationships

Place the seat in exactly one unit: Business Unit (Organization), (Department) or (Team). Set the occupant through Membership.Position Held; Held By is the inverse link. Reports To (Position) and Direct Reports (Position) model reporting between seats; Membership reporting relates people in context. Held By - OLD is legacy text; its description still says it links the old Memberships table.

Lifecycle and checks

Lifecycle Status is Draft, Active, On Hold, Archived or Superseded. No formula checks that exactly one unit is set.

Source fields

Names, types, options and links are those configured in Core Record Types. The meaning is the first line of each field description in Airtable. Options describe configuration; they do not prove a rule is enforced elsewhere.
