# Tool in Systems Central

Local use of Tool (mirror): the platform a system runs on.

A System is what the group builds; a Tool is what it is built on, such as Airtable or n8n. The same software can be both. System → Tool records that fact. On 2026-10-28 no System row links a Tool yet.

The other 11 columns come from Tooling and Access. Accounts, Workspaces and Subscriptions arrive as plain text. The mirror also carries a **Secret Ref** column from the source. It names where a secret is kept, and per the global rule "Secrets are referenced, never stored", it must never hold the secret itself.
