# Views

What a view and an interface can do: filters, creation, the published view limits and record-level access.

A view filters, sorts and groups the rows of one table. An interface shows pages built on the tables of one base.

| Limit | Value |
| --- | ---: |
| Views per table | 1,000 (the views article) |
| Views per base | 1,000 (the plans page) |
| Interfaces or pages per base | not published |

## Filters

A view cannot filter by the current user.

A view filter reads only fields of its own table.

## Creation

A view can be created, moved into a section and configured only in the browser. The API and the MCP read views. They update filters and visible fields. They do not create a view or a section.

The API exposes which fields are visible in a grid view. It does not expose their order, filters, sorts or groups. The MCP view configuration read does expose them.

## Interfaces

An interface reads only the data of its own base. A list page has one source table.

Interface-only access with "viewer's records" is the only record-level permission boundary Airtable offers.
