# Department

An organizational department with a parent organization, leadership and teams.

Source table: Department in Core Record Types. A Department is a real unit of one organization, filed under a catalog term.

## Rules and relationships

Link one Parent Organization and use Head Membership for leaders. Team.Departments controls which teams appear in Teams. Name is a formula combining Classification Term and Parent Organization: edit those inputs, even though the field description still says to enter the name. Channel Identifier records a messaging destination; each consuming workflow must implement routing to it, and its fit with the tool-identifier rule is an open question.

## Lifecycle and checks

Lifecycle Status is Draft, Active, On Hold, Archived or Superseded. No formula checks the department.

## Source fields

Names, types, options and links are those configured in Core Record Types. The meaning is the first line of each field description in Airtable. Options describe configuration; they do not prove a rule is enforced elsewhere.
